What is A Balanced Diet?

With a raw food diet and within the raw feeding industry, a balanced diet is said to be one that provides 80% meat, 10% bone 10% offal, however with our SARF diet, balance also includes resting the digestive system as well the the mechanical body by mimicking nature and its laws –  no set meals, set times or set amounts!, this allows us to addresses and fulfil an animal’s nutritional requirements throughout its life with the purpose of bringing and maintaining health through real balance.

If a diet is not nutritionally balanced, it will fail to meet the animal’s nutritional and functional needs, generally leading to poor health and related welfare issues, these issues can often be seen through stool shape, size and colour as well as disease -dis-ease of function and or motion. The nutritional requirements of animals differ, factors such as life stage, age, physical activity, sex, size, body condition, reproductive status, and overall health influence the balanced diet and essentially the animal needs.

Maintaining a healthy body condition is crucial to health, obesity for example as well as feeding wrong foods can and does negatively impact an animal’s health. Thus, overfeeding and feeding of wrong foods should be avoided. It is essential to closely monitor what our animals consume as well as amounts to prevent disease -“we are what we eat, what we eat becomes us”.

The Carnivore

There are many types of diets, the most popular four being carnivore, herbivore, omnivore or frugivore. Dog’s, being the ancestors of the grey wolf and proven scientifically are carnivores.

A carnivore is an animal whose physical body (at every level) requires a food that brings strength to their cellular structure, these needs are satisfied by consuming animal tissues (primarily, blood, muscle, bone, offal and other soft tissues) Ideally this would and should be in the form of a whole prey and would be achieved through hunting or scavenging, in the case as of domestication (which doesn’t alter an animals nutritional requirements) a SARF diet which as mentioned is designed to mirror nature, and is highly recommended.

Raw Feeding Puppies

Once the weaning process is well underway, and considering the litter size and the age of the pups, we recommend feeding them 10% of their body weight per day (initially), which can be divided into 4-6 meals.

Our goal for all our customers and with our SARF diet, is to help replicate the natural eating habits of these animals as per the laws of nature. Therefore, we also suggest introducing what we call Raw meaty Bones (RMB’s), a raw chicken or duck wing (for example) can be given at around 3 weeks of age. While the pups may not consume them, they will become familiar with the taste and gain some experience in chewing, which is an important part of their development.

Feeding a pup their SARF™ diet ensures they receive minerals and nutrients in their natural organic form, without carbohydrates or unnatural processing. This supports natural and healthy growth, as their digestive system is naturally designed to process these minerals, preventing undue strain on their joints from rapid weight gain as well as cell weakness from incorrect “food” stuff.

The major benefit of the SARF™ diet is that it provides cell-food, “gene food consistency” whilst allowing the body to rest, this nourishes and strengthens the body at it’s cellular level whilst maintaining flow throughout the body’s elasticated pipe work network (blood and lymph), as opposed to simply feeding the stomach.

Puppy bone growth is influenced by the ratio and source of calcium and phosphorus. The SARF™ diet when followed correctly and designed by nature for their specific species, ensures these needs are perfectly met.

The SARF Diet

SARF is a Species Appropriate Raw Food Diet.

A SARF diet provides a complete and balanced approach based on the laws of nature.

A SARF™ diet boosts your pet’s immune system by maintaining homeostasis (balance) it provides an intake of key organic minerals and enzymes, resulting in naturally healthy dogs. Feeding your pet a SARF™ diet helps them lose fat and gain muscle mass, improving their appearance, body function (which operates with ease) thus increases energy and activity levels, essential for vitality and longevity – extending their lifespan.

Switching older dogs to a SARF™ diet often alleviates degenerative disease symptoms, with improvements in mobility noticeable within a few months.

One of the first changes many people witness when feeding a SARF™ diet is the improvement or disappearance of skin conditions. Additionally, your pet will develop a rich-coloured, soft, and pleasant-smelling coat.
