On the 2nd of February, our team celebrated 11 years of sure4pets!
This is more than just an anniversary; it represents over a decade of dedication to our furry friends – and we can’t forget about their humans too! We’re especially grateful for your unwavering support this month, as we reflect on what it means to be sure4pets.
To mark the occasion, we are doing things slightly differently. Instead of our usual insights, we’d love to share our story of how sure4pets came to be. From what inspired us to where we are now, our beliefs, ethos and more – so you know who you’re supporting when you shop with us.

How it started
Our story as sure4pets started in early 2014, when Gareth, our director, opened his store in Barnsley for the first time. But the journey to get here began far earlier. Gareth’s experience with raw food started with his very own beloved bulldogs, Charlie and Oli.
After experiencing multitudes of unnecessary treatments and a poor diet, Gareth’s pup, Charlie, unfortunately passed away in young age. Both Charlie and Oli were fed supermarket kibble and sachets. He was determined to make a change with Oli to prevent the same happening, and switched him to a raw, species-specific natural diet. This made all the difference. Oli lived on a raw food diet for almost 11 years after Gareth switched him over, visibly thriving after the change.
Unfortunately, we see many cases of unwell dogs being fed a multitude of medicines, without concern that the problem could be their diet, which makes us even more passionate about sending the message we do.
Our team at sure4pets comprises people like Gareth, who have your dog’s health at heart. We want to encourage people to understand the effectiveness of a Species Appropriate Raw Food (SARF™) diet. More importantly, we want people to give their pets what they deserve.

How it’s going
Our mission is to encourage people to understand the importance of a SARF™ diet and how it can help benefit your dog in the long term. Over our 11 years, we’ve truly achieved this. This doesn’t mean we’re slowing down, though!
A SARF™ diet consists of raw food, no store-bought kibble with barren nutrients. When you switch to a raw food diet, you will notice your pet’s strengthened immune system, healthier skin and coat, increased muscle mass and much more.
Today, we supply raw food to pets and their humans all around South Yorkshire. What started as a local shop in Barnsley is now a thriving ecosystem of dogs eating raw dog food across Leeds, Wakefield, Sheffield and even further! We now deliver within 20 miles every Wednesday and Thursday, so you don’t have to worry about your pup missing out on a hearty meal!
Our product span has increased exponentially over the years. Not only do we supply for dogs, but we also supply for an array of other animals. Our range now covers cats, birds, reptiles and fish too. Although our story centres on dogs, we believe all animals should be fed properly to live long, fulfilling, enriched lives.
We’re especially proud of the progress we’ve made in growing the SARF™ community in Sheffield, Wakefield, Leeds and further out. Raw feeding is slowly gaining popularity, and we are so proud to see pets and their owners all around South and West Yorkshire switching their pets over, especially as there are still a few dated myths!
11 years later
The team and community around sure4pets have grown so much over the years, and we truly look forward to seeing it continue to grow in the future. When we asked our founder, Gareth, to reflect on his time running sure4pets, he said that it’s more than just food, it’s “11 years of education, care, and natural nutrition for happier, healthier pets.”
