Day old chicks are classed as whole prey, they make an ideal raw snack or treat for dogs and can be a small meal for some cats, they are a particularly great natural food source for reptiles and birds of prey. Our day old chickens come from certified hatcheries they are euthanased a method that is recognised by the RSPCA Freedom foods as the most humane available when awarded the Allstair Mease Award for improvements in Animal Welfare 2000. The chicks are then chilled as an integral process, boxed and within hours blast frozen before dispatch. it is the speed of this process that differentiates our supplier Honeybrook from all other producers. The chickens are breed for the egg laying hen industry. The male chicks are obviously not usable for egg production, nor are they suitable for the meat production. However, day old chickens are an ideal food source for many animal and bird species. For example, they are very suitable as frozen snake food.
